Decorating Tips for the Holiday Season

Fall is in full swing and the festive season is right around the corner. Stay on top of the holiday rush and start redecorating your home if you haven’t done it yet. It’s the perfect time to spruce up your space, especially if you’re expecting guests to come over soon. Here are some tips to help you give your home a makeover in time for the holidays:

Fall colors still work
Infuse rooms with the warmth and outdoorsy feel distinctive of fall colors like orange and chocolate brown. Play with various tones or textures (e.g. muted palettes, mattes, glitters) and elements like jars filled with autumn stems and garlands for whimsical variety. If you want a more versatile look, stick to neutral, earthy tones with a pop of orange here and there.

How about some winter wonderland?
Give rooms a touch of the festive holiday spirit with dominantly white décor. Again, have fun with different kinds of white, such as snow, ivory, and vanilla shades, and accent it with contrasting colors like black and red or earthy brown and olive green. Whip out a statement décor or two, but don’t clutter rooms with too many ornaments all at once.

There are plenty of options outside greens and reds.

Think outside the traditional box, and try experimenting with color schemes involving gold or silver and violet, royal blue, or any other color. Include natural elements like pine cones or cranberries in your design for a hint of age-old holiday decorating.
